ABOUT THE CHAPTER HISTORY

The Beta Omicron chapter of Beta Theta Pi was first founded at the University of Texas on May 18th, 1886. The chapter had a good run for over 120 years and unfortunately left campus in 2009 due to small chapter size and the progression of Beta's Men of Principle Initiative (having begun in the late 90s and picking up momentum in the 2000s). To be clear, the chapter was not "shut down" for reasons of misconduct like you may see in the news. The decision to close its doors was a mutual agreement between the chapter, the University and the General Fraternity.

Beta Omicron recolonized in the Fall of 2015 with a "re-founding fathers" class of 50 exceptional men. The chapter has been thriving since, becoming the fastest growing fraternity on campus as the charter to become a chapter was obtained in Summer 2017 along with a chapter house. ABOUT THE CULTURE

We have high expectations and aspirations for Texas Beta. We believe Betas are meant to be the best men on campus - in the classroom, in their careers, and in life. As a result, our rush process is alcohol-free and highly selective. It is a great honor to receive a bid from Beta Theta Pi, and it should not be taken lightly.

Our members are richly diverse. They come from across the globe and represent all walks of life and all colleges at The University of Texas at Austin. Our minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 and all members are expected to be involved in at least one extracurricular activity outside of Beta. Members take part in countless service opportunities across Austin and are heavily involved in leadership positions in numerous organizations on and off campus.

Betas are gentlemen, leaders and scholars. And they're simply the best. But don't take our word for it; we challenge you to ask others about us and see for yourself.

ABOUT THE NUMBERS

At the risk of sounding biased, we believe joining Beta is the all-around greatest decision a young man at UT can make. Texas Beta offers so much that can't be quantified. But for everything that can, here's how we stack up:

Fastest growing fraternity at UT with 130 members in 3 years

GPA consistently in top 3 of all 30 fraternities on campus

All 13 colleges at UT represented in our membership

1500+ living chapter alumni, 2200+ lifetime members

10 chapter advisers

2016-2017 UT Fraternity Chapter of the Year
